Sarah Hardwood is settling into Cedar Creek after making a bold decision to move there, and her good friend Emily has great news: she's finally tying the knot with her (much younger) boyfriend, Ethan. Emily recruits Sarah, who is still trying to move her career to Ontario, to help with the planning.
But before they even have time to choose a venue, Emily's ex-husband turns up in Cedar Creek, and so does her stepbrother, Adam. While Adam makes his intentions known, Michael's reappearance is a total mystery. What's more, Adam's ambitions threaten to upend the town's Red and Green Ball - one of the most important events in the town. Holly gets sick at the worst possible moment, so it's up to Sarah to take the lead, for the first time, in a typical Cedar Creek kindness caper.
