This photographic field guide is just the ticket. It is conveniently sized to fit in a backpack or back pocket, making it suitable for circulating as well as reference collections. The colorful illustrations along with production details and common usages make the coverage interesting and accessible to readers from middle-school age to adult. Chris and Helen Pellant (Fossils: A Photographic Field Guide) are avid collectors and many of the specimens in the book are their own. The authors' intention with this title is to provide information both to collectors who need a quick guide to recognizing and classifying specimens and to those laypersons who would like to identify what they find.
