In a small Irish village, Elizabeth Egan appears cold and distant to everyone in her life, including her young nephew, who is in her care. Her attitude starts to change, however, when she meets Ivan, who teaches her how to relax and enjoy the people around her. Sile Nic Fheorais's Irish lilt adds a playfulness to the story as Elizabeth loosens up and takes chances. Fheorais also reveals Elizabeth's tenderness as she relives moments of heartbreak from her past. Adding to the performance is John Lee, whose portrayal of Ivan and other magical characters contributes to the sense of a fanciful world mingling with reality. Listeners will enjoy the story as the two narrators render alternating perspectives. K.M.D. (c) AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine
