「巴士」一詞由英文音譯而成，象徵著西方交通文化的引入。香港巴士90年前由英國傳入，穿梭港九新界，為香港增添殖民地色彩。巴士，一直都是市民日常生活不可或缺的交通工具，其重要性至今絲毫無減。只是隨著時代的變遷，其外型、功能，以至社會意義卻不斷改變。為了編著本書，兩位作者多年來翻閱無數文獻典籍，做過大量訪問，搜集不同年代的巴士資料，書中插入400多幅珍貴的巴士及歷史照片，務求將香港過去近百年的交通歷史重現於讀者眼前。
