《中国绘画史/中国文化艺术名著丛书》是陈师曾先生执教时的授课讲义，在先生去世后得以刊印出版。全书约4万字，共三编，分为上古史、中古史、近世史，三代至隋为第一期，唐至元为第二期，明清为第三期。以这一时间轴为准据，历叙各期代表性画家及画派纷争，梳理历代画史脉络、技法沿革、题材变迁等，并示以中国画发展历程中内在的渊源关系。正如其所说"书与画授受渊源，自古迄今，统纪分明，蔚为大观"。
