The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Definitely a must read, for the fashion in which it has been written and style in which it talks about simple emotions of jealousy and ambition. Set against the backdrop of a haunted village, it comes across as a realization there is nothing scarier than a negative intention. This is the story of a simple Ichabod Crane, who is attracted towards the only daughter of a rich man. He intends to woo her, but realizes that he may not stand a chance against his competitor Brom Bones. The latter is a mean natured man who does believe in fair play. He takes advantage of folklore of the headless hunter and resorts to ugly means to win the lady's hand.
